Im writing this review on behalf of my mother and her dog Gio. The dog had a wellness exam on 4/13 and he died on 4/24. We found him dead on a pool of blood coming out of his mouth. The dog was 14 years old with multiple health problems including cancer and heart failure. The blood coming from his mouth is consistent with fluid on his lungs/belly from heart disease or cancer. I will leave two separate reviews to be more specific. Vet techs and Staff--5 stars -they did trimmed Gios nail much better than at the other vet clinic were he was seen. -techs are caring and made sure Gio was wrapped in a blanket -they do what theyre told in a busy place. Dr. Fisher--0 stars -unimpressed by this veterinarian. There is another negative review consistent with our experience. -its not a good look when the dog had a wellness check and dies less than two weeks later. -im not blaming Dr. Fisher because i think the cancer had spread and its what killed the dog. -however, she didnt do a full head to tail exam and she didnt even ask a for full medical history. She didnt ask how long he had the tumor or if it had grown in size. All she did was listen to the heart but said nothing. She spent 5 minutes at the most inside the room. What kind of doctor doesnt fully examine the animal on a wellness? What kind of doctor doesnt communicate with people regarding their pets while in the room including getting a full history? -had Dr. Fisher done a complete exam then she would have likely determined that the dog was dying.....or maybe she knew (therefore the reason she didnt fully examine)but decided to do a bunch of unnecessary tests and prescribe meds. -whats the point of doing a rabies shot on a dying dog? And full labs? And prescribing meds? -the labs strongly indicate that the cancer had spread with inflammation of pancreas, liver, decreased kidney function, low lymphocytes and high neutrophils. Sure more tests would be required such as xrays, ultrasounds, ct scans for confirmation, but why prescribe antibiotics after failing to perform a full physical exam and when labs likely show cancer spread? Dr. Fisher said that the infection was "likely" due to the tumor. Overall, i would strongly not recommend Dr. Fisher. Im not blaming her for the death of the dog. Im questioning her ethics and practice of veterinary medicine. My mother is fixed income and unfortunately couldnt pay for her dog needed treatment over the years. Those on fixed income and low income cannot longer own dogs. Visits to the veterinarian can on average cost 400-800 dollars and if pets are to have a high quality of life then it will cost you. Many people would no longer afford pets due to the greed of the largely unregulated veterinary industry. Raul
