We had a wonderful experience at the Meridian WestVet with our cat. All the staff were kind, patient, and took their time to make sure we understood the care they were giving, treatment options, and at-home care. They didn't try to pressure us into any extra tests or procedures, keeping our budget in mind. We received wonderful care from Dr. Elder, and unfortunately I didn't catch the name of the vet tech who helped us. I called with more questions and concerns a few days later and received a call back from Dr. Barnard, who was also very understanding and helpful. Employees were even able to give us ballpark dollar amounts for the different proposed treatments. I joked with my husband later that vet care is easier and more transparent than human medical care! It's amazing to me that these employees can be so friendly and caring even though they work demanding hours (we were there late on a Friday night) and in stressful situations. I highly recommend this business! UPDATE: We had to take our cat back to this same emergency vet, and although the experience was still good, I took a star off for this last visit. The doctor was great (different vet this time), but she hadn't checked my cat's records from her last visit there a few months before. She was asking me if my cat had elevated kidney numbers, which would have been right there in her chart since it was at this facility where she was first diagnosed. Also asked if she had ever received a certain medication, and I said, "Yes, I think the last time we were here." I think checking a patient's record is the first thing you should do before an exam or recommending treatment! Also, and this may get me in trouble or even censored, but why does an animal hospital have to have certain flags up just because June is a certain month? And why do employees have to have their preferred pronouns embroidered on their smocks? Seems like these are political statements that have very little to do with pet care, and the environment should stay neutral and professional.

Unfortunately for me my pets always happen to need medical care on the weekends. Which means there are very limited options on where I can take them especially when it’s urgent. I’ve taken two pets to WestVet in meridian and have unpleasant experiences both times. Not only is the staff extremely unhelpful they’re also not friendly in the slightest and every time I’ve had to go to them I’ve waited at least 3 hours before being seen only to be told they’re unsure what’s wrong.

Waited for 3 hrs. Nothing. Got checked in. Filled out the paperwork. Stuck in a back room and never checked on again. Never coming again.

Very convenient location in Meridian ID so no need to drive all the way to Garden City for emergency pet care. Staff was friendly and triage was quick.
